Each drainage district/scheme tends to have a separate rating district established to maintain a network of scheduled assets, such as drains and associated stopbanks, culverts and floodgates. These schemes provide protection benefits to a defined community and are funded through targeted rates.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 7 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>There are 28 districts in Kaipara, 4 in the Far North, and one in Whangarei (Hikurangi). NB: FNDC advises that the drainage district polygons for the Far North should be used with care as there is no official documentation regarding how they were derived.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 7 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>The role of the Regional Council is to consent the schemes (under the RMA) and to consent the physical assets within the schemes. </SPAN></SPAN></P><P><SPAN><SPAN>The appropriate scale of use is 1:25,000</SPAN></SPAN></P><P><SPAN /></P></DIV></DIV></DIV> |
