It has no legal effect.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;\"><SPAN /><SPAN /><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 7 0;\"><SPAN><SPAN>This dataset comprises polygon areas of the District Council managed drainage districts. Each drainage district/scheme tends to have a separate rating district established to maintain a network of scheduled assets, such as drains and associated stopbanks, culverts and floodgates. These schemes provide protection benefits to a defined community and are funded through targeted rates.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 7 0;\"><SPAN><SPAN>There are 28 districts in Kaipara, 4 in the Far North, and one in Whangarei (Hikurangi). NB: FNDC advises that the drainage district polygons for the Far North should be used with care as there is no official documentation regarding how they were derived.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P><P STYLE=\"margin:0 0 7 0;\"><SPAN><SPAN>The role of the Regional Council is to consent the schemes (under the RMA) and to consent the physical assets within the schemes. <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN><SPAN>The appropriate scale of use is 1:25,000<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN /><\/P><\/DIV><\/DIV><\/DIV>",
