Description: This dataset is part of the Proposed Regional Plan. It has no legal effect.This map shows the location of significant Historic Heritage sites in freshwater and the coastal marine area of Northland. The sites identified have been selected based on the report by Clough R, and Brown A., 2016. Northland Coastal and Freshwater Heritage Survey: Identification of Historic Heritage Resource Methodology. This report formed an initial 'long list' of historic heritage sites which was then updated in 2017 by Clark L., a researcher in Historic Heritage. The resulting dataset has been categorised into 'A' and 'B', Category 'A' sites being deemed significant enough to include in the Regional Plan. The sites include; historic heritage areas that form part of a cultural heritage landscape in combination with land based historic sites, and buildings and structures of historic significance.
