Description: This layer describes terrestrial habitat values and identifies the High priority terrestrial sites, i.e., those comprising 30% of surviving indigenous-dominatedecosystems or 10.6% of the Northland Region.This was generated by identifying all rastercells in NorthlandTerrestrialRanks.tif having values in the range 0–0.3, and delineating theseinto polygons. Polygons lying within 250 m of each other were amalgamated to form multipartpolygons, and any polygons of less than 1 ha in extent were deleted. This featureclass should be used in conjunction with other Northland Biodiversity Ranking data and in consultation with the Spatial data notes for Northland Biodiversity Ranking August 2018 (Obj Ref A1105191), Soil Types lris data dictionary (Obj Ref A1105672) and associated report "A classification of New Zealands terrestrial ecosystems by N J Singers and G M Rogers (Obj Ref A1105681).Fields within theassociated data table are as follows:a. Id – a unique numerical identifier in the range 1–1293;b. AreaHa – the polygon extent in hectares;c. RankMean – the average ranking, calculated by overlaying the polygons onto thecontinuous terrestrial ranking layer and calculating summary statistics for grid cellsfalling within each polygon;d. RankMin – the minimum (orhighest) ranking occurring within the polygon,calculated as for RankMean;e. RankMax – the maximum (or lowest) ranking occurring within the polygon,calculated as for RankMean;f. Name – a text name – these are provided only for polygons with an extent greaterthan 1000 ha, or for those having mean rankings that place them within the top 10%of sites and an extent greater than 100 ha.
