Description: Ranking of rivers and streams for the purpose of enabling the prioritisation of resources to manage the current ecological values. This featureclass should be used in conjunction with other Northland Biodiversity Ranking data and in consultation with the Spatial data notes for Northland Biodiversity Ranking August 2018 (Obj Ref A1105191), Soil Types lris data dictionary (Obj Ref A1105672) and associated report "A classification of New Zealands terrestrial ecosystems by N J Singers and G M Rogers (Obj Ref A1105681).Rankings for all river and stream segments were created by overlaying a buffered set of river network lineworkonto the river ranking raster layer(Northland Biodiversity Ranking - River Ranks)and calculating summarystatistics for grid cells located along each river segment. Fields within the associated datatable are as follows:a. Objectid – a unique numeric indicator;b. NZSegment – a unique numeric indicator derived from NIWA’s REC2 database;c. NZReach_re – a unique numeric indicator derived from NIWA’s older REC database;d. RiverClass – the river ecosystem type, derived from the FENZ level 2 classification;e. Condition – the estimated ecological integrity or condition, with values rangingbetween 0 (very poor condition) and 1 (very high condition);f. LengthKm – the river or stream segment length in km;g. RankMean – the mean rank for the river or stream segment, with values rangingbetween 0 (highly ranked) and 1 (low ranked); the value for a particular riversegment indicates the proportion of all river segments by lengththat would need to be selected for that particular river segment to be included.
