<idPurp>Coastal Flood Hazard Zone 2 (100 years), the area potentially susceptible to coastal flooding in a 1% AEP + 1.2 m SLR, for the Ruawai catchment developed by Water Technology in 2024.</idPurp>
<idAbs>&lt;DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;A TUFLOW hydraulic model was developed to simulate flood response across the Raupo Drainage Scheme in Kaipara District. This includes the town of Ruawai and surrounds, which are protected from the Wairoa River with a series of stopbanks and floodgates. These structures were included in the model, which was simulated for design events including the 1% (100 year), 2% (50 year), 10% (10 year) and 20% AEP (5 year), as well as the 1% AEP with Climate Change (100 year + CC) using a rainfall-on-grid approach.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Additional Coastal Hazard scenarios (listed below) were simulated without rainfall, to present the implications of sea level rise on the district.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;CFHZ0 - 1% AEP Surge&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;CFHZ1 - 2% AEP Surge + 0.6 m SLR&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;CFHZ2 - 1% AEP Surge + 1.2 m SLR &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;CFHZ3 - 1% AEP Surge + 1.66 m SLR&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;The model outputs are able to identify the potential flooding extents, depths and velocities and can be used to assess the impact on the built environment, infrastructure, and community as well as, subsequently, aid in the development of effective mitigation measures.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;The model output for this layer is the flood hazard polygon for Coastal Flood Hazard Zone 2 (100 years).&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Data provided by: Nicole Basher (Rivers and Natural Hazards) &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Data Published by: Divya &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Published on: Feb 2025&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;</idAbs>
